Local Attractions In The Clare Valley

Relax, unwind and enjoy the quiet and beauty of the Clare Valley from the picturesque village of Auburn. Only 1 and 1/4 hour drive from Adelaide via the Expressway to Mt Horrock's Highway. 

Pick up a brochure about the historic Auburn and find out about the historic buildings and sites; there are 24 various places of historic interest to see. Auburn was the home of C.J. Dennis. Check out the mosaics on the planters in the main street- they have a story to tell.

The famous Clare Valley Riesling Trail: walk or ride - only a short stroll to the start of the trail and head to the wineries at Leasingham, Watervale or Clare; or walk or ride along the nearby Rattler Rail trail which begins at the former Auburn train station and links in with the Mawson trail and takes you to Riverton.

Local Auburn Wineries: take a short stroll (2 min) to nearby wineries (Mt Horrocks Wines, Grosset, KT Wines or Velvet and Willow). Sample a fine Riesling or red.. or go on a tour of the all the wonderful and award winning wineries of the Clare Valley. Just down the road is Taylor's Wines also well worth a visit! 

Enjoy the main street of Auburn: art, coffee, food and retail. Great Food, Wine and Coffee;  5 to 10 min stroll from your accommodation you will find:  The Rising Sun Hotel, Terroir Restaurant, Velvet and Willow Cafe or Cogwebs Cafe. Go further towards Clare to find many other enticing menus and cuisine types. Visit Linhay Gallery's latest art exhibition or A Joyful Bunch for a shot of retail therapy or to find the perfect bunch of flowers or plant. 

Wander the Clare Valley, visit the country town of Clare, historic Mintaro, the quaint villages of Watervale and Sevenhill or picnic in the Skilly Hills. Wander further to explore the geology of Burra and use Auburn as a home base to explore the Barossa (around a 1hr drive).
